Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the richest forests in east Africa with 350 species of birds, 310 species of butterflies, 320 species of trees and also 120 species of mammals including 10 species of primates.
Bwindi’s complex ecosystem offers a lot to see, the guide who will assist you knows the trails, and they are familiar with the history, vegetation and animal life which makes them able to show you and explain to you so much that it would make your trip memorable. Going on water falls loop trails, walks on the river banks, birding in the forest, nature walks and Gorilla tracking which is so far the best wildlife experience on the Continent of Africa are some of the activities travelers can get involved in.
You will be met on arrival by your driver / guide who will warmly welcome you and will transfer you to your accommodation in Entebbe.
Your driver/guide will pick you up and drive you to Fort Portal the land of the craters. En route, you will see beautiful green landscapes and tea plantations. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town with views of the famous Rwenzori Mountains. Fort Portal is Uganda’s most clean town and home to the country’s youngest king.
Today you will spend the morning tracking the exuberant chimp families in the Kibale forest. Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, is a thrilling experience. Though they can be difficult to spot, you will be in no doubt of their presence as the forest is alive with their noisy calls. In the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals and, in particular, birds. Spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to more elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga antelope.
Today, your driver/guide will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda’s second largest national park. You will enjoy journey as you pass through scenic crater lakes. In the afternoon, enjoy the two-three hours launch cruise on Kazinga Channel and have an amazing variety of birds and wildlife that majorly include; hippos, crocodiles and the wild game drinking on the channel side like elephants, water backs, buffaloes just to mention but a few. From the boat, do another game drive along the channel track in search of more game as head back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Today, your driver/guide will take you to Bwindi National Park –The home of the endangered mountain Gorillas. En route, you may have a game drive once again as you leave the Ishasha area or visit community projects and learn how the neighboring communities leave alongside the park.
After enjoying an early breakfast, you set off gorilla tracking. Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Tracking in the Bwindi forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day. After an hours encounter with these gentle giants, you will graduate and join the rest of the tourists who describe this as the greatest highlight of an adventure in Uganda. Guests are always given a certificate of encountering the Gentle Giants.
You will transfer to Lake Mburo National park. It’s the only national park in Uganda where you can have a safari on foot. There has been an addition of tallest savanna animal (the giraffe) added to its endemic impalas. You will have a game drive as you enter the park.
You will walk up early and have a guided safari walk with a ranger, return to the lodge for breakfast before you return to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight back home (B,L)
