This is the biggest national park in Uganda and one of the oldest parks designated in the year 1952. it is located about 300 kilometers northwards from the capital city of Uganda Kampala which is about a 4 to 5 hours’ drive through the plains of Luweero. It is the park with most of chances of viewing the 4 of the big 5 of the game as you with the exception of the Rhinoceros. This 3840 square meters big is also home to the famous and the strongest water falls in the world at Murchison Falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a 6-metre gorge falling 43 meters to form the most dramatic and hardest waterfalls along its 6650km journey to the Mediterranean.
The view from the top after a hike to the top of the falls is a sight to behold as the Nile waters violently thunders and blows a fine mist high into the sky filled with dancing rainbows that can be seen most of the time of the year. While on the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, the water life that includes the Nile crocodiles, hippos among other game also presents you a chance of sighting the famous shoe bill stork and the goliath hero traditionally it used to be home to the black and white rhinos which are now left in Rhino Sanctuary outside the park. Abundant wildlife can be viewed on the safari to Murchison falls including, over 100 species of mammals and over 450 species of birds.
